Geography Student

Coat: Zara
Shirt: Vintage
Boots: Her Mums
Bag: Tom Seva
Ring: Her Mums
Trousers: Topshop
Interesting Fact: Her dream is to travel the world & work

Mariah was walking down Brick Lane when I spotted her very simple yet eye catching look. I love the simple shapes and structure to the pieces for example the textured woollen coat. Bringing the outfit together and finishing off, outerwear that’s just perfect for the winter season. Her style is definitely effortless and effective. Not a lot of jewellery has been added but the large tote bag adds a lighter colour splash against the two shades of blue. I think the fact she is wearing her mum’s boot is a cute unique feature and links to a personal story. I think your particular individual Style comes from communicating who you are and your tastes, opinions, likes, dislikes, hobbies, interests and lifestyle. Having unique features like this makes the look more interesting and invites you into the person’s world, not just looking at the clothes themselves but the stories and backgrounds behind them and the person. The buttoned up shirt is a detail I love, favourite aspect of the look!

Earrings: Camden
Rings: Tophop
Jacket: Vintage
T-shirt: Ebay
Trousers: H&M
Trainers: Unknown
Interesting Fact: Used to be a Goth & only wore all black

Tiffany’s look isn’t the usual look I’d personally go for but I thought she stood out and looked confident in what she was wearing. Dancing around the Camden lanes in the trainer and bomber style jacket she looked very stylish. In particular I love the use of several different kinds of rings all placed together. They don’t exactly match but look good altogether placed on both hands. Accessorising the outfit like this adds personal touches and a decorative feature. Another jewellery piece used as a decorative unique aspect is the chunky hoop earrings, becoming a lot more popular the hoop earring is fun and quirky. These hoops in particular are very big and chunky – very much a statement piece of jewellery! I like the laid back T-shirt style, very casual and for in the day – good for working in Camden/markets. Head scarfs seem old fashioned but this is really bringing out her personally for the overall outfit, I love the positioning and tie bunched at the front adds texture and something more interesting to look at as well as adding a hint of patterned colour.

Dress: Topshop
Boots: Primark
Hat: Urban Outfitters
Bag: Marc Jacobs
Jacket: Topshop
Necklace: ASOS
Interesting Fact: She is her own boss & owns the company

This look reminds me a little of the ‘biker chick’ trend with the emphasis on black leather matching the black hat, tights, bag and boots. I Love the splash of Orange/red with the animal/tartan print dress. The colour against the black adds a feminine summery edge to the winter look creating a splash of vibrant personality to the look. The hat adds a quirky touch to the overall outfit, the suede bow design is very different to the leather jacket style but shows how Sophie likes to be a little different when accessorizing her outfit choices. A lot of people are accessorising their outfits with a Chelsea boot, but these have a different twist with laces, heel and buckles. The details are what makes them stand out to the rest of the boots I’ve seen this winter, and these are my favourite so far! The gold medallion style necklace adds a decorative touch with its chunky chain and finishes off the look well.

Jenny

Stall/boutique shop owner in Camden

Hat: Ebay
Coat: Charity Shop
Trousers: Topshop Vintage
Boots: Use to be her Mothers
Bag: Camden market stall
Interesting Fact: Mother of four girls

I was walking in between the cute market stalls and boutiques in Camden and spotted Jenny sat in her shop. Her Fur hat and coat matched the winter cold weather perfectly that day and looked great at her age. I love the way she has no fear within her style, and wears what she loves. The vintage patterned trousers are my favourite, love the idea of recycling old trends and making them into your own outfit/style. The white floral print is a beautiful effect against the black. The balance of colour is also really effective with her look, with the matching cream fur hat and boots – snow slipper like! The bag is very unusual and different from the other items, but it fun and quirky representing her personality well. She was very surprised when I asked to take a photograph of her look!

Coat: Topshop
Bag: Zara
Shirt: Zara
Trainers: Nike
Necklace: New look
Interesting Fact: Loves Football

Priya definitely stood out in the crowd with her textured tomato zipper coat. I love the soft texture it has to it in contrast to the wet look legging trousers. Its a very casual day look I think with the oversized studded shopper but the jacket/coat makes it more of an eye catching look, because of the bright shade. I’m never really a fan of the trainer, but with this I think it shows off her sport interests, therefore the choice of shoe relates to her interests and hobbies. She was quite a shy girl, but seemed passionate about her love for fashion and football. The basic white shirt is paired with a silver chain necklace adding detail but not overly feminine with the choice of metal silver. I like the oversized shopper, especially with the studs round the edges lines the shape and structure of the bag making it look more like a luxurious product.

Interesting Fact: She collects marbles, beads and buttons.

With this look, the aspect that stood out the most was the jacket! The vibrant colour is still very summery, adding a splash of bright to the Autumn/Winter months coming up. In particular I really love the woollen textured fabric to the jacket and the luxury feeling it evokes with the chunky zip as well. Also really love it against the grey dress rather than a harsh black dress which you would normally think of. Blends in well and softens the colour palette. I think this outfit is a very well thought out one that’s perfect for a casual work day, with a large tote bag full of work items. The gold necklace matches the gold on the bag buckles as well as the shoes. This Statement necklace adds a simple spot of detailing to the overall plain look without taking over.

Claire

Fashion Student from Italy

Cardigan: Brick Lane
Bag: Vintage Chanel
Hat: American Apparel
Boots: Topshop
Rings: Boutique in Italy
Scarf: Unknown
Interesting Fact: Her nan bought the vintage Chanel bag, not actually knowing it was designer.

I saw this girl and immediately loved her look. Black hasn’t never been my usual choice of colour over the years but just recently it’s one I can’t live without. With this look I love the layered up feeling, the textured oversized cardigan and scarf sit really well on top of the super skinny jeans, with the chunky buckle boots finishing the outfit. The ankle boot is a trend this season yet this pair are actually from last year – love the fact Claire has recycled past trends/items, taking them forward into the next! My favourite aspect of this look is the small yet eye catching use of colour. The red boyfriend beanie hat adds a splash of colour to the overall look bringing out her hair and not hiding her from under all the black. The beanie definitely stands out well & is perfect for the winter!

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to my new blog, specifically for Street Style, currently a Fashion Design & Technology student. I’m very excited to get started and into the world of street style, photography and further into blogging for this unit. I haven’t had a lot of experience in the past with this idea of ‘street style’ before or taking photographs of outsiders style and trends. It’s definitely going to be a good experience and build my confidence up within the fashion trends, and forecasting area. Alongside this blog, I’m going to be doing a research sketchbook to back it up, looking into blogs, photographers, trends etc. Really interested in this idea and looking further into how people use fashion as communication and develop as a person through the use of clothing. I’m going to focus on the way that clothes are a way of communicating the persons personality and tastes. The way people shine through their clothes and through the use of style. What pieces might mean to them, or have stories behind them, not just the style. As well as focusing on the details and accessories used to enhance outfits and looks!
